APP for Symbian

Multiple Counter for Symbian S60 3rd edition. Press right to increase the current counter, or left to decrease the counter. Press up or down to go to the previous or next counter. You can add a new counter, or delete, and rename existing counters. You can also directly set the counter value. You can have unlimited counters with this application.
The data for the application are stored as text files in C:/data, which you can access using a file manager, or through the Desktop using Nokia PCSuite. Why is the data in a public directory? So you can import/backup your count to PC if you need it. The file count-data.txt contains the counter data (names of the counter and the count), the file count-names.txt contains only the names of the counter, and the file count-current.txt contains the current active counter.

Y-Browser is a file manager for Symbian OS devices. It implements most standard features on files & folders.

Y-Browser is freeware and available for Series 60 (including 3rd edition devices)

YBrowser includes similar functioanlity to SysExplorer but also allows you to send a file (via Bluetooth, e-mail, MMS and infrared) and to change the attributes of a file. You can modify the file creation data and whether a file is hidden or not. Although this is of limited use setting a file to 'hidden' will generally hide the file from programs that scan for file types. For example hiding a .jpg file will mean it is no longer visible in the Gallery application.

Microsoft offers perks for app developers for Windows Marketplace app store

Microsoft today bared how developers can build and sell apps for Windows phones through Windows Marketplace for Mobile, the recently announced app store for Windows Mobile 6.5 phones.

In a statement, Microsoft said it "will provide developers with 70 percent of the sales revenue of their applications from Windows Marketplace for Mobile, transparency throughout the certification process, and guidance and support from the stage of development to the final sale to the consumer".

Widget engine for Windows Mobile 6.5 to bring in more apps

According to a report, this will "allow developers to build applications using HTML and JavaScript and run them using Internet Explorer 6 Mobile engine, so it would act like a normal web page, but without the address bar, menus and other browser features".

"The applications will have the .widget extension and will create a simple way for companies to create apps that support their web services," the Mobile Guerilla report added.

Geek.com meanwhile said that "[this] is great news considering that the Palm Pre will essentially have the same thing as its core application functionality, so you can expect a lot of applications to be developed using just HTML and JavaScript this year".

Expecting a bumber crop of new apps for Windows Mobile, the report adds that "the biggest difference here, though, is that Windows Mobile 6.5 will still run Windows Mobile-based applications, in addition to the apps/widgets created using just HTML, JavaScript and graphics files. This could mean a whole lot more “apps” for the Windows Mobile platform."
